Easter Charity Ball

On 24th March 2018 we had the pleasure of setting up a wonderful venue, stoke by nayland for the Easter Charity Ball in aid of Coclchester Hospital’s Neonatal Unit and working alongside the main sponsor Dream Wave Events.

Not only did we have the honour of setting up during the day, but we also attended this wonderful event as guests!

So, our day started out very early in the morning, we collected all of the event accessories that were hired from us from our showroom, we packed up the van and made our way to Stoke by Nayland, a lovely venue that we often get to work at. See the venue for yourself  STOKE BY NAYLAND

Upon our arrival we met up with the lovely host emma, emma had been planning this event for a whole year and today was the dream day where everything came together.

We quickly set to work with the help of the other committee members and started of placing the white chair covers on all the chairs, in all nearly three hundred!, next was to finish them off with a lovely organza lemon sash.

We then moved on to set the tables, setting our large candelabra’s on large round centrepiece mirrors, with on this occasion real candles ready to light for the evening entertainment.

We then set up our state of the art photobooth, this was going to be a winner for all the guests tonight! what a bundle of laughs waiting to happen as we got out all of our props, you just know what some of the pictures are going to be like!

Emma had ordered us all coffee and sandwiches to keep us all going throughout the setting up, dreamwave events were also there working hard setting all the mood lighting, the band that had stepped in “playing around” because of an injury to the original band booked were there setting up and practising, well if they were half as good tonight as they are testing then we are in for a superb live band evening.

Once all set up we said our farwell to the committee and looked forward to seeing them this evening.

We made our way back home now to ready for what was going to be a spectacular event.

So the eveing was starting of a 7pm, we got their early just to get everyting in place for our photobooth, although already set up we just needed to install the printers, and all other electrical components. It was then time to chill!

we got our welcome drink, then other guests started to arrive, at first 20 or so, then 50 then 100 then it doubled and more, 8 o’clock and we were all called for our seats for the meal to begin.

Not before, emma done her speech, thanking everyone who had been involved in the year planned event, her husband for putting up with her lol, the committee members for putting in all hard work, the companies that had sponsored all of the prizes for the raffle, dreamwave events for setting up the lighting mood and DJ equipment, and of course us Embellish Events.

photobooth hire from embellish events led lit up birch tree So the speech from emma was done, and one of the nurses from the neonatal department was present, she gave a small speech anlong with a consultant on what this was all about, everyone listening, the idea basically was to raise enough money to for them to purchase a state of the art incubator to keep premature babies warm, the consultant went on to explain that babies who are kept warmer have a better survival rate, one thing i did pick up on not word for word was what the consultant said, he explained ” i know its hard to believe but back in my younger days i remember learning over a bed with a portable heater above the baby, when i was examining the baby i could smell a burning smell, (laughing), i suddenly realised that it was my hair that was touching the top of the portable heater that was burning it, i don’t need to worry about that now days with these type of incubators they are really lifesavers, so thank you” everyone applauded.

After the informal speeches we all tucked into our starters, we had a lovely pate with french crispy bread in an apple cider sauce mmm lovely, the main course was brought up, roast chicken with trimmings, and for afters a small selection on your plate, a choco browney, cream with a marangue, and a small lemon chocolate type of desert, all very nice. next up was a coffee and mints finished with a table set up with a choices of cheese and biscuits.

After dinner was the auction, lots of guests bidding on many things, a week hire of a beach hut in frinton on sea, a weekend away, a spa day and lots lots more, all bidding were high to raise enough money, the auctioneer was a comedian in himself!

Once dinner and the auction was done it was time to party!, it was out time to slip off and start out photobooth, we run the booth for two hours and in that time we managed to get some funny excellent shots of all the guests. You can see all the album on our facebook page here

I believe that the evening raisied in excess of £14,000, of the £29,000 (check out their facebook page to confirm money raised)
